Job Description
Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association has been established at the federal level in 1995 by Women lawyers and re-registered as Local Organization in accordance with the Civil Society Organization. It has been working for more than 30 years to promote women’s social, economic, political and legal rights to help women exercise their constitutional and other rights.
The aim of the association is to promote equal participation of women in all sectors and to prevent sexual violence against women and create a safe environment for women through its three programs: Legal Research and Advocacy, Public Education and Capacity Building, and Free Legal Aid service.
The association is head quartered in Addis Ababa and has opened its regional offices in seven regions and one city administration namely Adama, Hawassa, Bahir Dar, Gambella, Asosa, Jigjiiga, Semera regions and city administration of Dire Dawa. In order to make the service accessible to all, the association is working to continue its service in the zones and woredas under its regional and city administration branches and has so far established 56 volunteer committee centers across the country. Besides, it has established a hotline service (7711) which operates in 3 local languages: Amharic, Afan Oromo and Tigrigna.
The “We Cannot Wait: Towards an Inclusive and Diverse Women’s Movement in the Greater Horn of Africa (WCW)” consortium seeks to building a strong and inclusive women’s movement able to effect change. The WCW consortium comprises five partners: The Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa (SIHA) Network, the lead applicant; Musawah; the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA); the Uganda Association of Women Lawyers (FIDA-Uganda) and NAGAAD Network.
This project builds on the complementarity of project partners and years of shared experience and goals in the region, to strengthen the women’s movement, advocate for an inclusive and feminist legal framework and link together women’s organizations to push a gender-focused agenda in the region. The consortium is working in the following countries: Somalia, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan and Ethiopia, with regional activities supported by SIHA Network and Musawah. In Ethiopia, EWLA will work out of its head office in Addis Ababa, and extend into locations in the Afar, Somali, Bahidare, Adama, Assosa, Gambella and Diredewa.
As part of our strategic efforts to reflect on progress, assess impact, and document key milestones, we aim to produce a comprehensive 5-Year Report covering 2021–2025. This report will serve as a critical reference for stakeholders, partners, and internal teams, showcasing achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations for the future.
Objective:
To engage a qualified consultant to lead the compilation, analysis, and presentation of the organization’s 5-Year Report, ensuring it is data-driven, visually compelling, and aligned with institutional priorities and branding.
Scope of Work:
- Review strategic plans, annual reports, and project documents from 2021 to 2025
- Conduct interviews and consultations with key staff and stakeholders
- Analyse programmatic and organizational data
- Synthesize findings into a cohesive, reader-friendly report
- Design the layout (or work with a designer) to finalize the report for publication
Methodology:
The consultant will apply a participatory and evidence-based approach, including:
- Document Review: Analyze internal reports, evaluations, and strategic plans.
- Key Informant Interviews (KIIs): Conduct interviews with management, program leads, and partners.
- Data Collection & Analysis: Gather and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Validation Workshop: Present draft findings for review and input.
- Finalization: Incorporate feedback, finalize narrative, and support report design.
Expected Deliverables:
- Inception report with detailed workplan and methodology
- Draft 5-Year Report for review
- Final 5-Year Report (print and digital-ready)
- Presentation deck summarizing key findings
About You
Consultant Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of Proven work experience in development of organizational documents such as Communication strategy, strategic plan and different Manuals
- Background in development, public policy, communications, or related fields
- Strong analytical, writing, and visualization skills
- Familiarity with results-based reporting and stakeholder engagement
- Excellent command of English and Amharic
Timeline:
- The consultancy is expected to be completed within 1 months from the start date.
