Closing Date: August 20, 2025

Job Description

Background

Ethiopia has recently embarked on a landmark National Dialogue (ND) process aimed at addressing long-standing political and social divisions. Following its initiation and the completion of preparatory stages, the dialogue has now entered its second—or ‘process’—phase, with a national convention expected in the coming months. Throughout its phases, the gender-responsiveness of the ND, particularly in terms of women’s participation, representation, and leadership, has raised critical concerns and highlights the need for systematic monitoring.

Advocacy Center for Democracy and Development (ACDD), in partnership with ELiDA and with support from the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), is implementing a project to strengthen monitoring mechanisms for women’s participation in Ethiopia’s national dialogue process. A key output of this project is the development of a comprehensive Tool for Gender Responsiveness, a guideline and tracking tool designed to monitor women’s participation throughout the national dialogue.

To reach a wider audience, ACDD and ELiDA plan to translate the tool into four local languages Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Somali, and Tigrigna as well as produce Braille copies, ensuring it is accessible, widely understood, and practically applied across the country.

Key Responsibilities

The objectives of this activity include:

  • Translate the English version of the Gender Responsiveness Tool into Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Af-Somali, and Tigrigna.
  • Produce Braille copies to support accessibility for visually impaired users.
  • Ensure that all translations are accurate, clear, and maintain the meaning and tone of the original document.
