01. Chief Accountant
St. Luke Catholic Hospital and College, a general hospital based in the town of Wolisso, South West Shoa, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Chief Accountant who will assume full responsibility for the total work related to detailed duties as reported below.

Key Responsibilities:
Execution and Control of Accounting/Finance processes:
- To ensure the systematic update of all accounting transactions into Open- ERP and Open Hospital Systems, according to IAS-IFRS/IPSAs, including their data entry by Costs Centre/Sub Costs Centre.
- To ensure the correct authorizations, coding and vouching and adequacy of supporting documents related to accounting transactions (Billings and Collections, Suppliers Invoices and related Payment, Other Payments to Third Parties, Payroll, Stocks Reports, etc., prior to be posted into IT Systems.
- To produce the monthly reports (Trial Balance, General Ledger, Treasury Reports, Payroll Reports, Fixed Assets Register Reports, Accounts Payables / Receivab!es Reports Stock Evaluations etc…).
- To ensure the checks of all Cash and Banks Positions (cash counts and banks accounts reconciliations) on periodical basis.
- To ensure the correct computation and compliance to Payroll obligations (Income Taxes, Social Securities/Pension and Provident Funds, Severance Allowance, Net Wages and Salaries and related issues, etc.) and other Third Parties’ obligations (contracts, withholding tax, others issues, etc…).
- To ensure that all the received Donations in Kind and Contributions are properly accounted and filE
- To verify, on periodical basis, the correct execution of stock physical inventory and its evaluation and to guarantee that the correct evidences are reflected into the IT Systems (financial accounting module and stock management module).
- To ensure that all accountability files and documents are kept orderly and safely and are easily retrievable when requested;
- To collaborate in the implementation and improvement of the IT Systems (Open ERP, Open Hospital, Other IT Systems) with regard to accounting/finance and internal control processes.
- To interact with the Organization’s External Auditors and with External Consultants (Legal Advisors, Accountants, IT Providers, Other Consultants) and with Local Authorities prior the General Manager’s authorization.
- To interact with and to assist the Management and other Organization’s Units with regards the updating and fulfilment of compliance to Ethiopian Laws and Regulations referred to Administration, Accounting /Finance and Payroll issues.
- To ensure the periodical accounting closing (monthly/quarterly and year end) and the presentation of Financial Statement with related annexes to External Auditors and to other Stakeholders.
- To assess the internal accounting system process and procedures and to share proposal on how to improve and strengthen it in line with the Ethiopian law and regulations and the international accounting principles.
Budgeting Process and Monitoring of Financial Performance
- To support the collection process of the information required to the Annual Budget, the Budget Narrative Report and the Budget/Forecast Review, in collaboration with St. Luke Catholic Hospital’s Management.
- To verify that all expenditures are within the limits of the budgeted amounts and related variances are timely communicated to the Hospital Administrator and the general manager.
- To support the Hospital Administrator in the preparation of the monthly analysis of the budget variances and related comments.
Asset Management Support
- To ensure the integration of the asset register with the accounting,’prpcurement and maintenance systems of the organization

- To ensure the regular updating of the asset register particularly after acquisitions, disposals, maintenance events, or audits.
- To ensure the data accuracy trough periodic assets inventories, cross-check entries and validation of data at the time of entry.
- To help the organization strengthening the management of the assets in terms of roles segregations and consistence of the processes throughout all the lifecycle of the asset.
- To ensure periodically and in line with the IAS-IFRS/IPSAs principles and the Ethiopian assets management-related laws the correct evaluation of the assets.
Financial Management of Project Funds and Donors’ Contributions
- To prepare and present the financial reporting of the various external donor’s projects in compliance the projects contractual terms and donors’ guidelines.
Supervision and Coaching of Accounting Department’s Staff
- To Coordinate the daily Accounting Dept. activities, providing monitoring, guidance and clear instructions to every Staff.
- To provide support and orientation to Accounting Staff, approaching as a coach/team leader in order to assure an adequate Capacity Building process and problem solving, in respect to St. Luke Catholic Hospital’s Internal HR procedures/regulations;
- To update the Accounting Staff with regard to Ethiopian Laws/Regulations (including IFRS/IPASs and other recommended best practices).
- To facilitate any needed updating training for all the staff involved in the acocunting system.

About You
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/accounting related subjects
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as Chief Accountant (3 years if in possess of a master degree and above)
- Excellent use of English.
- Proficient in ERP, word processing and spreadsheet software
- Strong understanding of federal, state and local tax regulations
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
