Job Description
DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019 as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government, bearing a registration number of 0009. The organization has five major programs: the Child Well-being and Education Development Program, the Gender and Life Skill Development Program, the Employable Skills Development Program, the Advocacy Program, and the Humanitarian Emergency Program.
DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia, namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration. Woreda Cashier
Job Summary
A cashier is responsible for handling financial transactions at the point of sale, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in processing payments, issuing receipts, and providing change. In addition to managing cash, credit, and digital payments, cashiers may assist with returns, resolve minor customer concerns, and support inventory or packaging tasks as needed.
Role and Responsibilities
- Work as compiling and distributing payrolls, keeping inventories, compiling cost data, and keeping account books
- Collect cash, checks, and credit card payments from customers
- Make change accurately and efficiently
- Issue receipts to customers
- Maintain cash control over the register drawer and verify amounts are correct
- Answer customer questions as they arise
- Help with other tasks as needed, including managing shelves, tracking inventory and keeping the store clean
- Ensure DEC safeguarding policies are implemented at all levels in its project site;
About You
Education Qualification
- Diploma and BA in accounting
NGO/CSO Experience
- Dipp 5 and BA 3
Additional Skills
- Good Experience, Proficient in cashier and clerical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication in both the local and English languages.
- Willing to work in a harsh area, including on weekends and evenings
